Smurfs

Smurfs, when you hear that word most everyone in this world would think of the small blue cartoon characters from their childhood, or for the younger generation the new Hollywood blockbuster. This article is a about a small Spanish town called Juzcar, that was transformed into a Smurftastic set for the recently made Smurf movie. All of the town’s homes and buildings that are traditionally all white were painted a Smurf blue for the set of this movie. The locals just had a vote on whether or not they should maintain their current blue state or go back to the traditional white wash style. Juzcar being the first official Smurf village in the world has drawn in 80,000+ visitors since its new make over. The locals have even gone so far as to dress up as Smurfs and walk around town, host a Smurf fair in the village square and even nickname their town mayor “Papa Smurf.”
This article appealed to me because I love the Smurfs, they are just the best and remind me of my childhood, I also loved the 3d movie so it was cool to see where the setting came from. I also love Spain and can’t wait to visit there someday, maybe next year to visit my girl Tash (a girl can dream.) This would be an amazing place to visit though, combining my love for Smurfs and Spain.
