OH happy day

Oh happy day (oh happy day)
Oh happy day (oh happy day)
When Jesus washed (when Jesus washed)
When Jesus washed (when Jesus washed)
Jesus washed (when Jesus washed)
Washed my sins away (oh happy day)
Oh happy day (oh happy day)

(La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la)
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
(La, la, la, la, la)
La, la, la, la, la
(La, la, la, la, la, la, la)
La, la, la, la, la, la, la
(La, la, la, la, la)
La, la, la, la, la

Oh happy day (oh happy day)
Oh happy day (oh happy day)
When Jesus washed (when Jesus washed)
When Jesus washed (when Jesus washed)
When my Jesus washed (when Jesus washed)
He washed my sins away

(La, la, la, la, la, la, la)
La, la, la, la, la, la, la
(La, la, la, la, la)
La, la, la, la, la

He taught me how (oh, He taught me how)
To wash (to wash, to wash)
Fight and pray (to fight and pray)
Fight and pray
And he taught me how to live rejoicing
yes, He did (and live rejoicing)
Oh yeah, every, every day (every, every day)
(oh yeah) Every day!

Oh happy day (oh happy day)
Oh happy day, yeah (oh happy day)
When Jesus washed (when Jesus washed)
When my Jesus washed (when Jesus washed)
When Jesus washed (when Jesus washed)
My sins away (oh happy day)
I'm talking about that happy day (oh happy day)

He taught me how (oh yeah, how)
To wash (to wash)
Fight and pray (sing it, sing it, c'mon and sing it)
Fight and pray
And to live
yeah, yeah, c'mon everybody (and live rejoicing every, every day)
Sing it like you mean it, oh....

Oh happy day (oh happy day)
I'm talking about the happy days (oh happy day)
C'mon and talk about the happy days (oh happy day)
Oh, oh, oh happy days (oh happy day)
Ooh talking about happy day (oh happy day)
Oh yeah, I know I'm talking about happy days (oh happy day)
Oh yeah, sing it, sing it, sing it, yeah, yeah (oh happy day)
Oh, oh, oh
Oh happy day..

I choose this song because in more ways then one is summarizes my life quite nicely. One way that is summarizes my life is because I am a Christian, and so I believe in all of the messages this song talks about. “When Jesus washed (when Jesus washed)
My sins away (oh happy day)” “yeah, yeah, c'mon everybody (and live rejoicing every, every day) Sing it like you mean it, oh....” I believe that the day that Jesus hung on the cross and washed all our sins away was a joyous and happy day, because without that day we wouldn’t be alive today.
This song is also relevant because of the fact that it is a religious song and it comes from the Sister Act 2 and my friends call me Sister Sarah (in reference to me being a nun.) Despite the fact that I am not Catholic, some of them truly don’t know/understand what a nun is and others just use it as term of endearment. I’m unsure as to how or when this nickname really came to be. I am one of 2 Christian’s in my group of friends, so I guess I just needed an indicator and this is the one I got.

WHO am I?

I am a total Who when it comes to Christmas, not as big of a Who as my Shantz friends but I do ok. I love Christmas and all that it entails. I love the reason for the season Jesus. I love getting together with family and friends. I love snow. I love the smell of pine..despite the fact that my parents don’t get a real tree. I love all of the W-O winter activities and I love all of the Christmas singing and songs.
Christmas for many has become about receiving not giving, about commercialism and not quality time spent with friends and family. Even the original meaning of [CHRIST]mas has been lost on some. Despite all of this it is still my favourite holiday, I love to give gifts and see peoples face light up. In my house this year Santa came early and we went to Florida for our family gift. This to me was better then any gift I could have physically unwrapped, it wasn’t just that we were in Florida either. It was the moments we shared together that formed memories that will last us a lifetime. These sentimental gifts mean more to me because they came from the heart and not just a meaningless swipe of a credit card. I do buy my gifts for my friends and family but I spend a lot of time thinking of something they would truly enjoy having or truly need before I go out to do my shopping. Most importantly I always remember the reason for the season, being Jesus’ birth. This holiday for me as a Christian is a very important one and I enjoy and take time to pause and reflect on what it really means.

Smurfs

Smurfs, when you hear that word most everyone in this world would think of the small blue cartoon characters from their childhood, or for the younger generation the new Hollywood blockbuster. This article is a about a small Spanish town called Juzcar, that was transformed into a Smurftastic set for the recently made Smurf movie. All of the town’s homes and buildings that are traditionally all white were painted a Smurf blue for the set of this movie. The locals just had a vote on whether or not they should maintain their current blue state or go back to the traditional white wash style. Juzcar being the first official Smurf village in the world has drawn in 80,000+ visitors since its new make over. The locals have even gone so far as to dress up as Smurfs and walk around town, host a Smurf fair in the village square and even nickname their town mayor “Papa Smurf.”
This article appealed to me because I love the Smurfs, they are just the best and remind me of my childhood, I also loved the 3d movie so it was cool to see where the setting came from. I also love Spain and can’t wait to visit there someday, maybe next year to visit my girl Tash (a girl can dream.) This would be an amazing place to visit though, combining my love for Smurfs and Spain.

My Relationship With Poetry

My relationship with poetry is a hate-hate relationship, I hate poetry and poetry hates me. I strongly dislike reading, writing and studying poetry. I don’t comprehend why poets write in circles; they never just get straight to the point of what it is they are trying to say. Writing poetry never fails to make me want to rip my hair out, it is an impossible task. I have no ambition to write poetry, ever. Studying and dissecting every last hidden meaning of what a poet is trying to say is almost to much for me to handle, I don’t know what they are trying to say and quite frankly I don’t care most of the time either.
The only poem I have really enjoyed was one that I learned in Mrs. Wagler’s grade two class, it went a little something like this, “Little froggies in a pool. You don’t have to go to school. You don’t have to spell or add, you just sit on a lily pad.”  This poem is straight to the point!
Some questions I have for Amanda Jernigan are, why write poetry? What inspires you? Do you enjoy reading other peoples poems? Do you like to read other types of literature?

lions and tigers and BATS OH MY

What is something that really terrifies me you ask? I could answer many things that make me nervous, uncomfortable or frightened but really only one thing truly terrifies me..BATS.
I have always lived in older homes, so bats have always been part of my life. Much to my dismay no matter how hard my parents try to keep them out the little vernon's always seem to find their way back in or a fresh crop blesses us with their presence in the spring. It is simply the worst thing in the world.
One particular time we had a bat in the house that we used to live in, it was summer time so we opened up all the doors and went outside to have a family bonfire. After about an hour we figured the bat would have made its way out and it would be safe for me (nobody else in my family really scared by these filthy creatures which has made me question their sanity a time or two.) So I went into the house to get some marshmallows, oddly in this home our kitchen was upstairs so I had to walk up a flight of stairs to get the marshmallows so up I went. I was walking cautiously up the stairs but not wanting to be a coward I tried to play it cool even though there was nobody there to witness it. I made it to the first landing without incident but then when I turned to begin the second part of the stairs out of no where appeared this disgusting, filthy flying cat squirrel cross breed and I tried to flatten myself against the stairs but there was no avoiding it the bat touched my head. I shrieked and began to cry and scream for my Dad. After what seemed like an eternity he came to my rescue and walked me to my room, I made him scout out the room to ensure no bats were inside I then sealed it all up and buried myself in my bed, but do you think I felt safe? No, so I got into my best protective gear and crawled back downstairs and outside. My brothers had set up there tent outside and were planning to camp out. This was very convent for me, I joined in on their camp out and slept wonderfully knowing no bats would be coming my way.
I guess in summary if you ever want to really freak me out, set loose a bat any where remotely close to me and you will have to witness me having the greatest freak out.

Soccer tingz

I have no idea what to blog about so, I am going to blog about how depressed I am that I am not playing indoor soccer this fall/winter. I can’t say I even fully understand why I’m not playing indoor soccer, I had my parents in agreement to pay for it and let me play but some how I never got registered to play. Two of my best friends are playing, they are commonly known in the waterloo minor soccer league as legends. So it would be kind of a big deal to play with them Natalie and Natasha. I am not as depressed about not playing after hearing about there first practise though, it apparently was not so much a time. (Refer to I am tasha fierce’s blog for further elaboration.) I do however still feel I should be playing, not because I’m good or anything but just because I love the game and have a lot of fun with it. I will also be so out of shape for women’s league this summer now that I’m doing lump sum of 0 physical activities. On a positive note my team won league champs this past summer, best team I have ever played on, I miss those girls and we got a pretty sweet league champs trophy.
