Tweak

I am currently reading a book called Tweak by Nic Sheff. It is a memoir that he wrote about his time as an addict and his recovery. The book starts with Nic beginning a bender in San Francisco after being sober and living in Malibu for 18 months. Nic finds he is growing tired of his life sober and misses the excitement of getting high and all that it entails. As he is walking the streets of San Francisco he runs into a high school friend and fellow drug user Lauren and begins a relationship with her. He also meets Gack another addict looking to make some money so Nic and Gack form a quick friendship and begin attempting to deal crystal meth together. In the end Nic returns home with the help of his sponsor and begins the road to recovery all over again.
This book shows in my opinion a very accurate account of the life of an addict. It is very descriptive to give the reader a clear image of what exactly was happening at different moments in Nic’s life. The reason I would recommend this book is because drug addiction is such a huge part in today’s society and it is important for people to be aware of what exactly drug addiction entails because of how apparent it is in our society today. This book is very emotional, especially for people who know someone struggling with drug addiction or addiction of any kind. I feel there is something for everyone in this novel whether it is pure entertainment or having something to relate to.
