lions and tigers and BATS OH MY

What is something that really terrifies me you ask? I could answer many things that make me nervous, uncomfortable or frightened but really only one thing truly terrifies me..BATS.
I have always lived in older homes, so bats have always been part of my life. Much to my dismay no matter how hard my parents try to keep them out the little vernon's always seem to find their way back in or a fresh crop blesses us with their presence in the spring. It is simply the worst thing in the world.
One particular time we had a bat in the house that we used to live in, it was summer time so we opened up all the doors and went outside to have a family bonfire. After about an hour we figured the bat would have made its way out and it would be safe for me (nobody else in my family really scared by these filthy creatures which has made me question their sanity a time or two.) So I went into the house to get some marshmallows, oddly in this home our kitchen was upstairs so I had to walk up a flight of stairs to get the marshmallows so up I went. I was walking cautiously up the stairs but not wanting to be a coward I tried to play it cool even though there was nobody there to witness it. I made it to the first landing without incident but then when I turned to begin the second part of the stairs out of no where appeared this disgusting, filthy flying cat squirrel cross breed and I tried to flatten myself against the stairs but there was no avoiding it the bat touched my head. I shrieked and began to cry and scream for my Dad. After what seemed like an eternity he came to my rescue and walked me to my room, I made him scout out the room to ensure no bats were inside I then sealed it all up and buried myself in my bed, but do you think I felt safe? No, so I got into my best protective gear and crawled back downstairs and outside. My brothers had set up there tent outside and were planning to camp out. This was very convent for me, I joined in on their camp out and slept wonderfully knowing no bats would be coming my way.
I guess in summary if you ever want to really freak me out, set loose a bat any where remotely close to me and you will have to witness me having the greatest freak out.

Soccer tingz

I have no idea what to blog about so, I am going to blog about how depressed I am that I am not playing indoor soccer this fall/winter. I can’t say I even fully understand why I’m not playing indoor soccer, I had my parents in agreement to pay for it and let me play but some how I never got registered to play. Two of my best friends are playing, they are commonly known in the waterloo minor soccer league as legends. So it would be kind of a big deal to play with them Natalie and Natasha. I am not as depressed about not playing after hearing about there first practise though, it apparently was not so much a time. (Refer to I am tasha fierce’s blog for further elaboration.) I do however still feel I should be playing, not because I’m good or anything but just because I love the game and have a lot of fun with it. I will also be so out of shape for women’s league this summer now that I’m doing lump sum of 0 physical activities. On a positive note my team won league champs this past summer, best team I have ever played on, I miss those girls and we got a pretty sweet league champs trophy.

My pet peeve- What really grinds my gears

My biggest pet peeve is male sports talking priority over everything else in the world. I would say just sports taking priority is a pet peeve but no that doesn’t cover what goes on in my house. I have 4 brothers and a father, and I’m a reasonable person I understand they are going to want to sit down and enjoy watching the game, but it should not mean the room is cleared of anyone uninterested in watching the game and a silence must cover the room and remain that way unless someone makes a bad play or a good play, then it is appropriate to hoot and holler like a pack of wild animals at the television set as if the players can hear you and by you yelling it will most certainly change what just happened in the game. Now don’t get me wrong I enjoy watching some football or soccer now and again but my life does not stop for sporting events, the way the male portion of my households does.
If the boys are not watching sports they are playing them, again don’t get me wrong here I’m all about the physical activity but the Earths rotation should not have to stop and others should not have to be totally inconvenienced because of it. For example often I have to work after school starting at 4 o’clock and my brothers have sports everyday after school and my parents work. Doesn’t sound like much of a problem yet does it but wait there is more, Austin my youngest brother is 7 and needs to be picked up after school, who I ask you has the privilege of doing this task and having to run to work having not eaten or even began to do homework, if you guessed me you are correct. My parents are working so obviously they are preoccupied but seriously why do you have to practise set, spike, serve or dribble, pass, shoot 5 nights a week, you would think my brothers could share this responsibility with me but do they? Slim to never and the only time they do is if the don’t have practise never would they skip practise that would be unthinkable. In the event that I have track practise and not work, again who do you think misses practise Garner or Alex the basketball stars? I think not, Sarah the athlete that is “going no where” (quote compliments of my dear brother Garner) must pick up the slack and go and pick up Austin. I apologize to anyone who is reading this and thinks it sounds petty but this is the life I lead day in and day out, living in a world where male sports dominate my home.
